NEW DELHI: Andaman & Nicobar Island’s public transport system went green on Tuesday with a fleet of electrical buses supplied by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), a subsidiary of state-run era utility NTPC.
NVVN is executing turnkey venture of supplying 40 e-buses and charging stations as a part of the union territory administration’s transfer to scale back air pollution. L-G D Ok Joshi flagged off the fleet of e-buses, NTPC mentioned in an announcement.
In the primary section, NVVN will present 20 air-conditioned electrical buses of 9 metres every. Apart from deployment of electrical buses, NTPC and Andaman administration are additionally collaborating for establishing public charging infrastructure within the archipelago.
NVVN has additionally emerged because the profitable bidder for offering a turnkey answer for 90 electrical buses in Bengaluru underneath the Centre’s Smart City venture. These buses will present last-mile connectivity to NAMMA Metro community.
