“They brought shame on Bengal, showed disrespect to Netaji,” Banerjee stated at a public assembly in Hooghly’s Pursurah, referring to the Jai Shri Ram chants raised by a bit of the group as quickly as she obtained as much as communicate on the occasion organized on Saturday by the Union tradition ministry and attended by PM Narendra Modi.

“I ask my mothers and sisters, suppose you have invited me to your home for lunch. When I reach your place will you slap me and ask me to leave? This is not our tradition. It goes against courtesy and decency. A few religious bigots present at the program teased me in the presence of the PM. How dare they do that? I would have saluted them had they raised slogans hailing Netaji. I told them I was glad that they had come. But I also told them that they can’t insult me, ”she stated.
Stressing that she would give a befitting ‘political’ reply to the ‘bigots’, she added: “I am ready to wash your utensils if you tell me nicely. But if you want to make me do it at gunpoint I will give you a befitting reply in the language of politics because I don’t believe in the politics of guns. ”
Didi blames CPM & Cong for paving the road for BJP
Banerjee reminded the gathering that BJP leaders from “outside” had earlier shown disrespect to icons like Rabindranath Tagore, Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar and Birsa Munda. “Their leaders said the other day that Tagore was born in Santiniketan when he was born at Jorasanko. They broke the statute of Vidyasagar in the city. While offering tribute to Adivasi hero Birsa Munda, they garlanded a statute without knowing that it was someone else’s bust. ”
The CM also blamed the CPM and Congress for paving the road for the BJP in Bengal.
“The BJP, CPM and Congress are like three brothers – Jagai, Madhai and Gadai. What has the BJP done other than spreading violence and riots? They (BJP) are torturing Dalits across the country. They didn’t mind engineering riots in Delhi when people were suffering from Covid. They are like battery-operated dolls speaking their master’s voice, spreading lies, fake news and riots. CPM and Congress have a bonhomie with them. What did the CPM do for Dalits and Adivasis for 34 years when they were in power in Bengal? ”
Banerjee harassed that she was the one credible “watchdog” of the individuals towards such forces. “I am not a leader. I am your servant. I am not like those who come from outside Bengal and make promises before the election and vanish after the polls are over. When I say free rations to everyone, I mean it. And I can guarantee you will get free rations even after the polls because Trinamool is here to stay, ”she stated.
